Henry Jonas, our Senior Vice President of Capital Markets, has 30+ years in Capital Markets. He received his BBA from the University of Florida in 1986, and then went on to get his MBA from Auburn University in 1993.
Henry enjoys analyzing hedge positions and creating strategies to help mortgage banks improve their executions within the bond market. His work can directly correlate with the company being able to achieve more competitive rates. As his unique skill set typically is only seen in large companies, he takes pride in growing smaller companies and watching the sales staff become more successful. As a competitive individual, he loves helping smaller companies grow and take market share from the usual “giant monster mega lenders”. Capital Markets are a sales tool that most executives don’t think of like this.
He retired after we sold Platinum Mortgage in the Southeast. After a bout a year and a half, he found himself bored and missed the competition. Henry had many opportunities with various companies, but he chose iServe due to its excellent management and company size. iServe struck him as a cause, not just another lending company. The team at iServe are the type of roll up their sleeves and do what they must to close a loan; that’s a company that has the foundation to grow! Platinum Mortgage was the similar, and we grew it from a former broker to one of the largest privately held mortgage banks in the Southeast.
Henry sees technology continuing to grow in the industry. However, too many companies rely upon their technology fleet. At the end of the day, production staff must be able to pick up the phone and get a decision maker on. Companies that do not offer service to the sales staff and borrowers quickly will eventually lose market share. Technology vs personal contact is a balancing act!
